# Creating an SCCP SSN

> **Applies to:** Tmedia 3.0, 3.2, 3.3

After you configure an SCCP Route, you can add [SCCP](https://prosbcdocs.telcobridges.com/telecom-references/ss7-and-signalling/sccp) [Sub-System Number](https://prosbcdocs.telcobridges.com/telecom-references/parameter-reference/sub-system-number) (SSN) on the route.

SCCP [Sub-System Number](https://prosbcdocs.telcobridges.com/telecom-references/parameter-reference/sub-system-number) are used to identify applications of this route's DPC. [SCCP managament](https://prosbcdocs.telcobridges.com/telecom-references/ss7-and-signalling/sccp/sccp-managament) will maintain the availability state for each [SSN](https://prosbcdocs.telcobridges.com/telecom-references/parameter-reference/sub-system-number) associated with the route's DPC. The [SSN](https://prosbcdocs.telcobridges.com/telecom-references/parameter-reference/sub-system-number) management status affects the routing decision. If a peer [SSN](https://prosbcdocs.telcobridges.com/telecom-references/parameter-reference/sub-system-number) is unavailable, the SCCP stack will try an alternate DPC/route.

To Create an SCCP SSN:

1- Select **SCCP** from the navigation panel

2- Select an SCCP Network

![Select SCCP Network 0](https://docs.telcobridges.com/w/images/0/0b/Select_SCCP_Network_0.png)

3- Select an SCCP LSAP

![Select SCCP LSAP 0](https://docs.telcobridges.com/w/images/9/93/Select_SCCP_LSAP_0.png)

4- Select an SCCP Route

![Select SCCP Route 0](https://docs.telcobridges.com/w/images/a/a5/Select_SCCP_Route_0.png)

5- Click **Create New SSN** from the SCCP route configuration window

![Create SCCP SSN 0](https://docs.telcobridges.com/w/images/e/eb/Create_SCCP_SSN_0.png)

6- Configure the new SCCP SSN:

* Choose a [Sub-System Number](https://prosbcdocs.telcobridges.com/telecom-references/parameter-reference/sub-system-number) for this route's DPC
* Select a [Replication Mode](https://prosbcdocs.telcobridges.com/telecom-references/parameter-reference/sccp#r) (ANSI and Telcordia only)
* Select the [First Concerned Point Code](https://prosbcdocs.telcobridges.com/telecom-references/parameter-reference/sccp#s) that requires immediate notification upon state change of this peer [SSN](https://prosbcdocs.telcobridges.com/telecom-references/parameter-reference/sub-system-number)
* Select the [Second Concerned Point Code](https://prosbcdocs.telcobridges.com/telecom-references/parameter-reference/sccp#s) that requires immediate notification upon state change of this peer [SSN](https://prosbcdocs.telcobridges.com/telecom-references/parameter-reference/sub-system-number)
* Click **Create**

![Create SCCP SSN 1](https://docs.telcobridges.com/w/images/8/8b/Create_SCCP_SSN_1.png)

7- Verify that the **"SccpRtSsn was successfully created"** message appears

![Create SCCP SSN 2](https://docs.telcobridges.com/w/images/b/bb/Create_SCCP_SSN_2.png)

8- Configure [SCCP Route SSN Backup Point Code](https://prosbcdocs.telcobridges.com/telecom-references/ss7-and-signalling/sccp/sccp-route-ssn-backup-point-code)

* Assign [Backup Point Codes](https://prosbcdocs.telcobridges.com/telecom-references/parameter-reference/sccp#s) to use in case this peer [SSN](https://prosbcdocs.telcobridges.com/telecom-references/parameter-reference/sub-system-number) is not available.

* **Note: For each selected point codes, a valid SCCP route must exist**.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://prosbcdocs.telcobridges.com/tmedia-documentation/configuration/web-portal-3-3/protocol-stack/sccp-tcap/creating-an-sccp-ssn.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
